MustonenFest, one of the oldest international music festivals in Estonia to have run without interruption (founded in 1989, known by several names, and under its present name since 2011), reflects the musical convictions of its artistic director, Andres Mustonen. It sets out to offer both audiences and musicians events that widen the horizon and touch the soul: moments of peace in a restless world. Estonia’s leading ensembles and soloists appear at the festival, together with distinguished guest artists from around the world.

The festival, previously presented under the name of Eesti Kontsert, continues to be organised by MTÜ Mustonenfest.

Andres Mustonen

Andres Mustonen, artistic director of the festival.

Andres Mustonen is an Estonian conductor and violinist, known for the breadth of his musical thinking and for his courage in bringing together music of different eras and styles. The ensemble he founded, Hortus Musicus (1972), has brought medieval and Renaissance music, as well as newer work, to audiences. As a conductor he has led orchestras around the world and collaborated with renowned soloists. At the centre of his work is music as a spiritual and unifying force.
